Building a Community….and a Wall

Although Dodgeball Ottawa was originally started simply to provide another option for dodgeball in Ottawa, it was always our goal to help build a community within the sport here in Ottawa. It started with our drop-in dodgeball and grew into a team league. Now, 3 years later, we have established Ottawa as a competitive breeding ground for tournaments and made a name for Ottawa provincially within dodgeball. Meanwhile, our community grew and grew. Within the community, people have made new friendships, business partnerships, relationships and of course dodgeball court chemistry. Today I believe our community is stronger than ever!

Alex Wall

Alex Svetlovsky, who is an extremely dedicated community member, recently went above and beyond. Alex built a removable plexiglass barrier to stop balls from getting caught on the stage. He did this using his own time and effort. He came up with a great solution for making this barrier completely removable with no installation needed. I would like to take a moment to acknowledge Alex for his commitment to the community! I would also like to thank everyone who jumped to Alex’s side to help him. I am so incredibly moved by our dodgeball community and would like to thank everyone for being a part of it.

I truly never expected the community idea to catch on the way it has and I am just happy to part of it all.

See you on the court

  1. Thank you so much!

The Dodgeball Ottawa community has been so good to me and has been an instrumental part of my life for the past few years. I’m happy to be able to contribute, and hopefully improve the experience on the court too!
